Modern women today are striving to do it all, and a lot of us are somehow acting like superwomen. Of course we want to do it all – but eventually our superpowers run out and we no longer can do everything we want because we haven’t done enough for ourself.
In my experience, caring for and connecting with myself on a regular basis has been a fundamental part of improving my quality of life + growing into the woman I want to be. Understanding and appreciating the importance of Self-care has transformed many of my actions into a labor of love. It has been at the root of my evolution towards greater wellness, happiness and peace of mind.
The Soulful part of this self-love equation is about… how these actions make us feel. Being able to choose how we want to feel is a powerful gift. Let me say that again… choosing how we want to feel is a powerful gift! Something so unique to each of us, it comes from our inner being, not from our external environment. Tuning in to this inner guidance is GOLDEN.
Many of us live in a fast paced world that is constantly demanding of our attention and our time. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of our careers, the never ending events, and caring for and connecting with everyone we love. Often we are thinking about what else we have to do before we even get through the present moment in our hands.
At some point, we have all heard from another or say ourselves… “ This year/month/day went by SO fast” or “I’m so busy, I just can’t catch up”. Time certainly seems to fly and it can feel impossible to slow down and catch our breath.
Is that when that needed (but all too short) vacation comes in? An indulgent night of too many drinks or “good” food? Or worse, is that when we burnout or experience a midlife crisis? These experiences can bring us to moments of clarity and useful lessons.
Self-care is the magic wand that sticks with us. It’s the rituals that slow us down and bring us back to the present moment. It’s like a soul sister that never leaves your side and always has your back.
Soulful Self-care is unconditional and all about love, dear friend. ♥
Each and every day it’s essential we give ourselves the time for those actions (or inactions) that really fill us up. Prioritizing those rituals for yourself is key… really making it happen, over and over again. And PLEASE, don’t feel selfish! You, my friend are not the only one whom will benefit. Your family, your friends, your career and life passions + purpose will also reap rich rewards.
Doesn’t it sound incredible to set the example for those around you, be inspired + inspire others to tap into their own soulful self-care. As women I feel it is our duty, we are caretakers, creators and mothers and we must nourish ourselves so we can in turn nourish others. If we do this, we can all live more peaceful, vibrant, and compassionate lives. We need more of this! And it all starts with you ♥ the modern (super)woman of today.
Take a few minutes now + pause for a moment, close your eyes and tune in… What are 2 or 3 things you truly desire? Things that make you feel fresh, grounded, vibrant and alive, or any way you truly want to feel. Now, how can you give yourself the time for those things everyday? Start there, then move on to every week, every month and every year. I highly recommend planning, scheduling and working around those golden nuggets in time. Prioritize self-care before anything else, it’s not only worth it… It is essential to your wellbeing.
Soulful Self-care is grand. Become the wise woman who knows she deserves it, because you absolutely do!
